The idea of 'burning' an NFT refers to the digital deletion of the artwork's blockchain record. This has the same effect as destroying a physical artwork by literally burning it.

BURN explores this idea in real world terms, with this ink and acrylic on canvas painting being exclusively sold as a digital art NFT. The physical painting will be set on fire upon sale of the NFT. The remains of the burnt painting will be made available (on request) to the person who buys the NFT. The artist will receive a 5% royalty on the resale value of the NFT if sold on the secondary market via blockchain. 

BURN is a response to Damien Hirst's 'The Currency' (2022) where a series of dot paintings with corresponding NFTs were put up for sale. The catch was that the owner would have to choose whether to keep the NFT or trade it in for the physical canvas copy.
